Safar e Mehram Written By Safiya Abdul

Sumaira Noreen –
Review ; Safar-e-Mehram – Jannath ki Raahguzar
If you are seraching for a novel that grips your heart, teases your mind, and keeps you yearning for more, Safar-e-Mehram Jannath ki Raahguzar by Safiya Abdul is your next must-read. I’ve just completed the first three Episodes, and I must say, it’s mesmerizing blend of emotions, mystery, and depth that has left me utterly captivated.
The protagonist, Ilham, is unlike any character I’ve encountered. His arrogance and self-obsession are traits I’d typically dislike, yet somehow makes me and maybe you too root for him despite his flaws. There’s something so magnetic about how he shields himself from others, refusing to let anyone in, yet he’s hopelessly drawn to the haunting voice that echoes in his dreams. Just one word-“Ilham”- and he’s consumed, unable to accept the presence of anyone else in his life.
The depth of Ilham’s personality, especially when he utters lines like, “What is the purpose of a heart that yearns, if all desires end in emptiness,” is heart-wrenching when he fulfill all his desires and feel everything but still feels hollow, emptiness inside him, that made me realize we all do that in our life-in young age when we don’t know what we want and end up doing such forbidden things. His hollowness, his internal battles, and the mysterious connection to the unseen female voice make you want to unravel his story bit by bit.
WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT:
1. Engaging Characters: Ilham is both flawed and fascinating, a mix of arrogance and vulnerability that keeps you hooked.
2. Unique Plot: The mystery surrounding the voice calling his name is spine-tingling and keeps you guessing.
3. Emotional Depth: Safiya Abdul dives deep into emotions, and the places she describes was in too much depth which could make you feel slow but it’s worth it.
4. Narrative Style: The pacing is steady, with vivid descriptions that bring every scene to life. (I want to go Charminar now…)
A NOTE TO AUTHOR :
Miss Safiya Abdul, your work is truly a gift. May Allah grant you more strength and inspiration for your pen. Your ability to test our patience while keeping us intrigued is remarkable! However, I echo the sentiments of many reader’s we’re eagerly waiting for the main female character’s point of view to balance the narrative and bring new dimensions to the story. And please-no traumas for Ilham! Let’s not add fuel to the fire of his already complex psyche.
To those who are hesitant about starting this book because it’s incomplete, or maybe written by newbie writer, take the leap! It’s worth the wait, even if the depth and pacing feel slow at times. Trust me, once you’re in, you won’t want to stop-Like me!
***AND THE BIGGEST THING I GOT TO KNOW THAT IT”S FREAKING TRUE STORY…!!! Does that mean Ilham is real character..??
My interest in this getting more and more day by day.
FINAL THOUGHTS –
Safar-e-Mehram Jannath ki Raahguzar is a novel for those who appreciate intricate characters, profound emotions, and a plot that unravels with poetic beauty. Whether you’re a fan of Urdu literature or enjoy well-translated English prose, this story will resonate with you. For me this story was purely bliss. I need more.
